Our Events

Join with BCSSL today because "Enthusiasm leads the way".

At BCSSL we always aim to do something to inspire our own members as well as the general public. We conduct two major events per year - most likely a race and a workshop. Lectures are conducted frequently on topics that interest not only butterflies, but many other aspects of wildlife and nature conservation. Every other month when our schedule is devoid of a lecture, we organize a field trip where everyone can have fun while boosting up their knowledge at the field itself.

Upcoming Events

Due to prevailing conditions, the BCSSL events are on hold. Keep in touch to get to know about our next event.

Field Trips

General field visits are organized by BCSSL for its members to further study about nature; not only about butterflies but about other flora and fauna as well. These trips focus on specific areas of the country where interesting observations, taking field records and photographing butterflies and other species are possible. Field work usually ends with a meaningful discussion of the day's work.

Lectures

A lecture on a subject pertaining to the study of Lepidoptera and other invertebrates will be conducted by a suitable BCSSL member or an invited guest on the last Saturday of every month at Department of Zoology, University of Colombo. Lectures are aimed at sharing knowledge on the subject as well as promoting conservation of the relevant flora and fauna. We welcome everybody to join hands with us for these lectures and share knowledge. Details are available through the website and the official Facebook page.
